In the proposed alternative design, there are a number of significant transport improvements.

The Upfield train line would be lowered around Macaulay station, removing a level crossing on Macaulay Road.  As well as making for a safer road system, this removal would also improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the local area.  The new, lowered, Macaulay station would be integrated in to the new urban fabric.  By being close to, and part of, a vibrant community area, the station would be safer and a more inviting space.

Community connectivity within the Arden Macaulay precinct would also be improved.  New local roads would be constructed to enhance local traffic flow.  Pedestrian connections would be greatly enhanced, not only by the lowered, less obtrusive train line, but also with two new bicycle and pedestrian connections across the Moonee Ponds Creek.
